Mishawaka Hangouts

We were in Indiana again over the weekend. My step-mother is not doing well and probably heading for a nursing home. My dad is having a difficult time. We were able to help a little, but it is a sad time.
On our way out of town we needed a pick-me-up and stopped by a couple favorite spots. The Hacienda is a Mexican restaurant that is in an old home. It is part of a complex of stores and shops that was built in the shell of the old Kamn's brewery.

The Mishawaka area has lots of nice parks. These geese greeted us at Merrifield park which is on the banks of the St. Joseph River. As you can see, the river is quite  high. Unfortuntely, we had nothing to feed our curious friends. They were not interested in the cabbage leaves we had.

Lastly, a trip to Mishawaka would not be complete without a trip to Bonnie Doon's ice cream.. I remember stopping on my way home from high school and ordering a banana split for less than a dollar... It is a bit more expensive now, but the ice cream is delish.

  1. Sorry to hear about MIL and your dad. It's a difficult time but you can only do what you can do. Thoughts are with you both!
