Ice Storm 2013
Saturday morning we awoke to ice storm. A tree branch broke off a tree in our front yard from the weight of the ice formed on the branches. Luckily we still had power, unlike many people in our county. Today we took a drive around to see hundreds of branches, limbs and trees downed. The news reported that people in a neighboring county were to be without power until after Christmas.

Chloe can barely be noticed against the snow...checking out the frozen tree. |
Fuzzy took some great photos capturing the beauty of the storm. |
The chain link fence never looked so beautiful |

Warm Day for Photos
I used the cropped closeup and transferred it to fabric for the focus of this block. It is my next Round Robin project.

Cruise Friends
One of the things enjoyable about the cruise, is that you can meet some wonderful people. Here are our tablemates we ate with nightly. Two couples from Canada, one from MI, and one from St. Louis.
Our waiter, Naidu, from India. He related that he has been working on cruises for over 30 years. He works 7 months on, two months off. While he is off he stays with relatives in India... No house payments!

In the Bahamas
Since it was a short cruise, we only visited the Bahamas, Freeport and Nassau. Although Freeport was smaller, we enjoyed it more, the people were much more relaxed and friendly. Here is one of the vendors we met in Freeport, Nathan.
Here we are relazing and enjoying the pace of the Island.
Nassau was a much bigger port, more commercial. The Bahamas is a UK possession. Lots of reminders of the royalty...
There was a funeral of a fallen police officer while we were there, here is part of the procession.
One of the vendors at the Straw Market. He carved things out of coconuts, he allowed us to taste a bit of fresh coconut milk.
In the distance the Atlantis hotel.

Durand Quilt Show 2011
Fuzzy and I attended the quilt show in Durand this year. It was nice, but the absence of crazy quilts was evident. I need to get on the ball for next year. Here are a few highlights.

Labor Day Flashback
I have been remiss on posting over the summer due to my work schedule. It is much reduced now so I am trying to catch up. Over Labor Day we were able to take a 4 day trip to Northern Indiana. We stayed just over the border in Three Rivers, MI. and we were able to meet some friends from Illinois to share the weekend with us. Sheryl is a friend from college and her husband Paul. We brought our bikes and were able to relax and explore the area, drove into Amish country in Indiana, and had a great time.
