Joyce's Finished Block

I finished and mailed off Joyce's block. I added the wire bird's next and eggs, the lace and beads on the lower left seam, and the birdhouse motif.  I hope she likes it...

Joyce's Bird Block

I received Joyce's bird block last week. She had lots of ideas for additions. She mentioned that she enjoyed religious (Christian) references. I could not come up with a bible verse concise enough to add with a bird subject, but I thought of the song "His eye is on the sparrow"... I hope she likes. I also beaded around a hummingbird earring and added that. I am thinking of what to do in the space above the sparrow quote, and in the lower left corner, then off to Joyce.

Lisa's Bird Block

Here is Lisa's bird theme block. I did the three embroidered birds, spiderweb and handpainted yellow lace flower. Also the flower in the chicakdee's mouth and the seam on the lower right.

Paula's Bird Block

I have had this block a while and kept looking at what I could add. After reading Paula's wishes, she said she loved butterflies as well as birds. So I decided to make one using my embroidery machine on fabric made of Angelina Fibers.  Here is the result. I embroidered the flowers using the print on the white fabric as the pattern.

My Bird Round Robin Block

This is my block I pieced for the Bird Round Robin, I love how the colors go together.

Joyce was the first to work on it. I love the peacock and how she echoed the silkie picture with her hummingbird motif. Can's wait to see what the rest of the "gang" comes up with.
